Investor Panel I had the privilege to moderate investor panel last week, organized by Windrose Capital and IIT kgp e-cell. The panel comprised of: Rohit Goyal- Windrose Capital Gireendra Kasmalkar- Alacrity India Vishal Vijaywargia Brand Capital Aviral Bhatnagar- Guild Capital I am sharing some of the key takeaways from the discussions: Investor Outreach: The VCs receive 300 to 500 pitches in a month. The importance is to convey the value proposition in a very crisp way. Market, Momentum, Management and Model are the key themes while looking at the pitch deck Customer acquisition cost has to be low Get intros and share pitch deck and be honest about the risk Term Sheet Valuation is important factor but there are plenty of other areas that are important in a term sheet and deserve equal importance Look at the clauses and clearly ask the investor about the clauses as it may have long term implication Compliance is an important part so keep your taxation, legal filing upto date. The money would not flow to the bank unless compliance are clear Post Money Maintain a balance of the conservative v/s aggressive outlook. Use the money wisely yet with aggression to achieve the desired goals The equity dilution is a major factor with long term impact hence ensure that you've raised at the right valuation. At early stage it is more about negotiation Equity split between founders plays a key role. Incase it is even then there should be clear ownership in decision making between the founders, else investor may construe it as a roadblock.
